Payment:       £500 non-returnable deposit* paid with Registration

                       £1900 balance paid by 15th June 2019

Students will be expected to commit at least 8 hours a month in personal study, assignment preparation and background reading.

Equating to approx 170 hours training

APPLICATION CRITERIA

The Course is intended for counsellors qualified in offering one to one counselling, who would like to extend their portfolio to work with couples.  Previous experience of working with couples is not required.

Application is open to practitioners qualified in any counselling model, although the model developed on this course is based on systemic, narrative, psychodynamic and attachment theories.  Previous knowledge of these approaches may be helpful, but is not an entrance requirement.

Applicants may be working in a voluntary organisation, a statutory service or in independent practice.

The Course will explore a variety of models / theories of Couple Counselling, and provide an opportunity for delegates to develop and practise counselling skills and techniques designed to enable them to work with the challenges that are particular to counselling couples.

The themes explored during the Course will enable attendees to develop an understanding of the unconscious processes of couples and also the unconscious processes involved in the triadic therapeutic relationship.

Safeguarding and ethics applicable to couple counselling will be core to the course structure and ethos.

Course Application is open for individuals who fulfil the following pre entry requirements:

  • You will have satisfactorily completed a Foundation Degree in Counselling, a Diploma in Counselling or Higher Level Counselling qualification.
  • You will be recognised as a Registered and Accredited member of BACP (or equivalent e.g. UKCP), or a Registered BACP member holding a BACP Certificate of Proficiency and working toward accreditation with a minimum of 200 accumulated client hours               
  • You will be receiving a minimum of 1.5 hours per month of personal counselling supervision for your couples work,  provided by a suitably qualified supervisor, who has experience of couple therapy.  You will need to received 12 hours in total over the duration of the course.   

Allocation of places on the course will be subject to assessment by the Tutors whose decision whether or not to admit an applicant will be final.

*Please note that if the Course fails to run all payments will be refunded in full, including the £500 deposit
